Description

A live, in-person, two-hour training is available for educators and early interventionists. Children with special needs have the highest rate of dental decay, which can affect their ability to succeed in therapies, communicate, and can lead to systemic infection. However, many parents have never been taught how to care for their child’s teeth and mouth and how to overcome the barriers to good oral health their child may face.

Upon successful completion of this training, participants will be able to:

  • Learn how to use the Brush for Children with Special Needs curriculum and parent materials to promote dental health in families with children with special needs

  • Identify the ways in which primary teeth are important to a child’s health and success in school

  • Understand the importance of primary teeth in child development

  • Understand the characteristics and causes of dental decay

  • Learn about the importance of nutrition in preventing decay in special needs children

Live training may be conducted at sites, up to 150 miles from McMillen Health, up to two sessions per day. Travel and expenses should be discussed prior to scheduling. Please call (888) 240-7268 to speak with our scheduler or email to discuss availability and planning.
